it did go well for romney last night. most people went in and out of food stamps and in and out of welfare in year-and-a-half. most people don't want to be on the government dole. most people want to work. most people are ambitious is. i don't buy, i'm surprised obama didn't bring up the 47% number last night. i'm surprised he didn't reframe it by saying something like yes, we've had a number of people on entitlements. we've had a number of people on food stamps. we had to do it to get people out of the bush recession. hopefully over time once we see numbers moving in the right direction, moody's is projecting 10 million more jobs over next 10 years, i'm sorry over next four years. boston consulting saying will get two million manufacturing jobs over the next couple of years. so these are we're on the right track. these are the metrics that need to be brought up and should have been brought up last night in the debate. >> alan, do you know anybody on food stamps or government assistance, alan? >> i do. yeah. >> okay. and

this is why mitt romney can't be let off the hook in the debate tomorrow night. but it's hard to press him on these issues when he doesn't even answer the questions. here it is. >> what is the biggest misconception about you in the public debate right now? >> we'll have to create more jobs, have less debt and shrink the size of government. >> misconceptions about you? >> you get to ask the questions you want and i get to give the answers i want. >> i hope there's a moment like that tomorrow night. not going to be easy for jim lehrer. even if romney won't answer for them, it needs to be spelled out loud and clear to the american people who have been lied to. mitt romney has not been straight with americans on where he stands and where he wants to take the country and there's no better platform than for the president to take him to the house. how can you expect him to be straight with you as president when he can't even run his own campaign? get your cell phones out. tonight's question, will mitt romney continue his campaign of lies at tomorrow's debate? text a for

stuart: the one the debate last night? >> absolutely romney. there is a small town of about 300 people around here where i watched it in a local tavern. the folks in the tavern had the same worries that we do in the city. and down, everyone in that tavern felt like you and i did. stuart: you are a cattle farmer, don't you like subsidies from the federal government? isn't president barack obama tried to bribe you with some subsidies? >> i think things have been going so well now that that is not really the case anymore. the big businessmen, which farmers are, they do not rely on that clutch anymore. you cannot put a farmer out of business with the weather, but you may if you back over his mailbox. that is not the case anymore. it is good old-fashioned work and there are no shortcuts. stuart: i was joking, scott. i hope you know that. i am a tree farmer myself. i am not looking four subsidies from president obama or anyone else. >> it is a good honest days work and you sleep better. the oxygen that you get out here is much better than in the city

i'm not surprised it's moving in mitt romney's favor. i mean, this was 70 million people watching and the guy who showed up, mitt romney showed up to do that job that night was the best he had ever looked and certainly obama, the worst he ever looked on a stage with someone else, i would say when we have seen him in the situations before. people tuned in those 70 million people thinking they were going to be a colts-packers fight, but they were surprised. i think the amount of that surprise worked in romney's favor. i will point out that the pugh survey is probably a little bit more republican than the electorate will end up being, which is something we've had a lot of discussions about. but i do think some of these number should be frightening to them of we've got 49-41 he leads on how to deal with job creation. >> bill: but you know what's interesting about this marjorie, is that, and i said this very early on, the president's support is thin. even people who back him are hesitant. you got the hard core left and they love him no matter
